Catherine Jasperse, Principal
Principal’s Message
This week, I am writing to remind you of several
upcoming events and also to make some
requests for donations to support additional
events at school.
1. It’s not too late to rent a table for the
yard sale on Saturday morning, October
11, 2014. It is also not too late to
donate items for the RCV table at the
yard sale. If you are interested in
renting a table, please let the front
office know. Each table rental is $20.00
– you can even rent one the morning of
the yard sale! The yard sale will take
place on the front side walk from 8:00 –
12:00 in the morning on October 11th.
2. National Walk to School Day is next
Wednesday, October 8th. If possible, we
encourage you to walk to school with
your child on that day. We will also
have walking activities planned for
students during recess and P.E. classes
so please make sure your child wears
sneakers to school on that day.
3. As we increase our use of lap tops and
chrome books in classrooms, we are
finding a need for ear buds and ear
phones. If you have any unused – or
gently used – ear buds at home that
you would like to donate to RCV, we
Julia Bialeski, Assistant Principal
would love to have them. Please just
send them into school in a plastic
baggie or envelope marked “donated
ear buds” and we will make sure that
they are collected and used in
classrooms.
4. Our annual auction fundraiser is coming
up in November. This year’s theme will
be fairy tales. If you feel you have any
costumes, scenery, crafts, or other
objects related to fairy tales (this could
be princess items, materials for a bean
stalk, or anything that relates to a
known fairy tale) that you would be
willing to donate or loan to the school
to use for decorations during the
auction, please email Ms. Jasperse or
let the front office know. Also, if any
parent has an artistic sense and would
like to donate their time to create a
decoration with a small group of
students, please let the office know. In
the near future, we will begin to have
students participate in art activities
during recess to create some of our
decorations for this year’s auction and
would welcome parent volunteers to
help with these creations.
I hope that all of you will be able to participate
in these events and thanks in advance for your
donations!
