Principal’s Message
Today, you will be receiving a packet of information for our upcoming auction fundraiser which will be
happening on Friday evening, November 21st. This year's theme will be all about fairytales and we are
in full preparation mode with creating decorations, planning fun games and activities, finalizing
arrangements for food, and many other details. Each year, this auction fundraiser helps us to ensure
that critical educational programs are financially supported at RCV, including: our local summer school
program, enhanced use of technology within the classrooms, and other important instructional best
practices. It is my hope that this year's fundraiser is the most successful ever and that means that I hope
many of your will join us on the evening of November 21st for a night of fun and fundraising. Even if you
can't join us that evening, you can place advanced bids on items in our extensive silent auction and also
have your child purchase raffle tickets for a chance to participate in fun activities with teachers. Some of
these activities include: lunch dates, manicures, bowling, ice skating, and much more! Participating in
this fundraiser is a great way to show support for our school and ensure that we can continue to
enhance the educational program for all children at our school. I know that I am excited for this special
event -- only two weeks to go and I look forward to seeing all of you at this fun, exciting, and important
event.
Run the Diner
Please join the RCV PTA at the Silver Diner (in Federal Plaza-Rockville Pike and Twinbrook Parkway) for a
night of great food and fundraising on Monday, November 10th anytime from 5-8pm.
PTA Reflections Art Competition
All Rock Creek Valley students are invited to participate in the PTA Reflections Arts competition. This
year’s theme is “The World Would be a Better Place If…”
This is a wonderful contest that provides students the opportunity to explore the arts and culture,
develop creative thinking and problem-solving skills and recognize themselves as artists.
Students may enter in: visual arts, writing, dance, photography, music, or film production. More
information will be coming home in students’ folders about the contest. Please encourage your child to
participate and submit their original entry by November 24, 2014 to the front office. There are rules and
restrictions for each category, packets with information about the rules will be sent out on the listerv.
Please e-mail [email protected] for more information.
