This year, Tales of the Kingdom will have RCV decorated for fairytales and ready for a wonderful evening of food, fun, and shopping! Everyone should have already received their auction brochure that details information about activities planned for the evening and wonderful treasures that are lucky students and families will take home. As the excitement mounts, so does our list of wonderful items that will be offered in our silent and live auction. As if the chance to win an iPAD mini, a resort vacation, or to give your favorite teacher a day off; we have some last minute additions to our list of treasures being auctioned off. These last minute additions include: · 4 tickets to “The Big Hero 6” movie…new from Disney (silent auction) · 2 Tickets to “The Top of the Rock” at Rockefeller Center in New York (silent auction) · $25 Gift Certificate to Costco…who doesn’t shop there?! (silent auction) · A 70 – 100 year old Native American Bowl (live auction) Mark your calendars and make plans to join us next Friday evening for this year's grand event. Doors open at 5:30; so we will see you then! Counselor’s Corner: November Dear Parents, Hello! We are very excited to be starting a new initiative at RCV for Kindergarten through 2nd grade students. It is called the “Buddy Bench”! The buddy bench is intended to serve as a meeting spot for students to find a peer to play with at recess. We introduced the bench last week and explained the following rules for using the bench to students: • Encourage children to have a plan before they go out to play. • Children should try their words first, to find a friend before using the bench. • If you see a friend you want to invite to play, you can get off the bench, go up to a person and ask if they would like to walk and talk or play today. • Sit and wait for a friend to ask you to play, then go with that friend who offers. • If you choose to sit on the bench, you should say, “Yes,” to the friend who invites you. • If you use the Buddy Bench, you can make a new friend that you can play with more than once. • The Buddy Bench should not be used by the same person every day. • Once you make a friend on the bench, keep that friend by inviting them to play! It is my hope that the bench will help foster friendships and healthy social engagement at RCV. Please feel free to ask your child about how they might be using the bench at school. Thanks for your continued support. Sincerely, Alexandra Kissell School Counselor Mornings are a busy time for families. Why not let us take care of breakfast?
