So…… Are you ready for school to resume? It has been
very quiet around the building over the past week. Our
building service has done an amazing job clearing the
snow from our parking lots and sidewalks. As you
probably experienced at your home, the snow became
more difficult to move as the week went on, however, our
dedicated team did not let that stop them in preparing for
the students return.
In addition I wanted to recognize the families in our
community who went above and beyond to ensure
sidewalks are shoveled out for students when school
resumes. In particular, I received a letter from a member of
the community (no students at RCV) sharing the
dedication of one of our families to make sure students
have a safe path to school. The Mejia family spent a chunk
of their week showing concern and commitment to our
larger school community by shoveling out neighbors and
clearing off the sidewalks. I am sure there are numerous
other examples of this type of selflessness and that is why
RCV is a great place to be
There have been some questions regarding how much time
will be added to the end of school year. Every year, the
superintendent can put in for a waiver to the State
Superintendent for specific days impacted by weather.
Currently, we have extended two days past the original
last day of school. If this changes, we will inform you as
soon as we find out.
On February 19th, we will have our 11th annual RCV
auction at our school. This is a great event to have our
RCV community come together and raise funds to support
the needs of our students. Admission will be free and we
will have many great items for our silent and live auction.
We hope all families, past and present, can join us for the
event.
We look forward to seeing the students on Monday!

Important Information
11th Annual Rock Creek Valley Auction
We are still in search of great items to be part of our Live Auction during the event. Do you have a connection
to sporting tickets, vacation rentals, airfare vouchers, etc...? Typically, these items bring great value to raising
funds for our students. If so, please contact Mr. Burns within the next few weeks.
Also, see attachment for support we need to create grade-level baskets being raffled off at the auction. Thank
you!
Open Gym
Open Gym was a big hit last year, so there is going to be an open gym at RCV on Sunday, January 31st from 1-4
pm in the gym. Since you have been stuck inside for a week, you might want a place that your child can come
out and stretch his/her legs. A parent must accompany students and a liability release needs to be filled out the
day of the open gym.
Peace Assembly
Due to the school closings, we had to reschedule our Quarter 2 Peace Assembly. The Assembly was scheduled
for Thursday January 28th and we are now planning to hold the assembly Thursday February 4th at 2:30 pm.
Thank you for your understanding. The additional week will allow for us as a school staff to prepare for the
assembly and to give notice to the families of our January Peacemakers who will be recognized that day. If your
child is being honored then you will also receive an invitation with the new date and time indicated next week.
Thanks again for your support and we look forward to celebrating with you.
Club and Class Pictures
Lifetouch will be at RCV to take club and class pictures on February 4 and 5. Order forms will go home on
Monday.
Report Card Distribution
Due to the days off, the report card distribution date (February 3) might be delayed. Thank you for
understanding.
