May is right around the corner and we have a lot of things
happening here at RCV. One of the tasks we have to
accomplish prior to the end of the year is articulation for
the 2016-17 school year. We would like you to be an
active part of our articulation process by providing
information about your child and we will use that
information as we are developing classes for next year.
Please fill out the attached form and return it to Mr. Burns.
Also, MCPS has announced that the school year will be
extended to June 20th for students. This will be a half day
and the students will be dismissed at 1:35 p.m.

Career Day at RCV
Rock Creek Valley Elementary School is planning a Career Day on June 2nd in order for
students in grades K through five to become aware of the fascinating world of work. The
focus of the school counseling program is to address the personal/social, academic and career
needs of all students. Throughout the year, lessons are taught about good decision making and
its application to our student’s lives. It is important that our students gain awareness about
future opportunities and how many of the decisions they make will influence their future. We
know that children achieve even more when they can see the relationship between school and
the adult world.
I hope that you are able to help us this year by volunteering your time on June 2nd and
speaking to various classes about your career and how you use skills learned in school. There
are a variety of time frames and grade levels that would benefit from a presentation. Please let
me know if you would like to share with a particular grade level and if you prefer the morning
or afternoon so we can begin to plan your visit.
More detailed instructions will be provided prior to your visit. Please contact me as soon as
possible if you are able to attend at 301-460-2195 or by e-mail at
[email protected]. I would love to know what line of work you are when
you contact me as well. Thank you and I am looking forward to hearing from you!
