"Our Heroes" Award
On Thursday, November 20,
2008 Angela Haney, Catering
Manager at OSU Catering,
was presented with the PFLA
Our Heroes Award. Angela’s
nominator had this to say
about her: “Angela and her
crew believe they must set
the highest standard to
uphold the University’s image. Everything
they do reflects back on the University and
gives folks an overall impression. They work
very hard to make sure everyone sees OSU in
the best light possible. Angela and her team
have gone above and beyond expectations
time and time again. They maintained a very
professional attitude and we were able to joke
about the situation. Everything was done
beautifully.” Angela received a certificate from
PFLA and flowers donated by Stargazer Florists
of Corvallis.

Woodstock's Pizza Event
The evening of October 23 found
many PFLA and AOP members
gathering around fresh hot pizza
at Woodstock’s and what a fun
evening we had! It’s always fun to
meet with our colleagues away from the work
environment and this first time event proved
to be a huge success. Laurie Solum and Angela
Haney were instrumental in making the evening
happen—thanks Ladies. And next time you’re
in Woodstock’s, thank the staff for the great
service they provided to PFLA. The PFLA Board
is planning the next evening event for spring so
watch your email!

Are you aware of the process for serving alcohol at your next
OSU function? The liability, workers’ compensation, and public
relations exposures are several of the factors involved in
approving alcohol service. The State DAS Alcohol Risk Control
Policy has guidelines for serving alcohol on state property or
during state business functions. In general, the public does not
perceive any benefit from employees consuming alcohol on the
job; therefore, alcohol service is not approved during business
hours and state funds can not be used to purchase alcohol. Come
learn more about the process and guidelines for serving alcohol
at your next OSU function.
