The Connnittee agreed to consider the October 21 minutes at its November
18 meeting.

Armouncements
A.
It was announced that the implementation schedule for the courses
approved by EPC on October 21, 1987 to satisfy the new Multicultural
requirement for credential candidates would be considered later in
the meeting (see the first item und.er Old Business).
B.
Pat Nichelson, Chair of EPC, announced that the Executive Connnittee
would consider at its October 29 meeting EPC's proposal for
definitions of B.A./B.S. degrees, and EPC's proposal for a university
grade correction procedure.
c.
Dates for Summer 1988 Experimental courses were announced: October
30, initial circulation of Summer 1988 Experimental courses; November
13, deadline to respond in writing to the Summer 1988 Experimental
course proposals; December 2, EPC reviews Summer 1988 Experimental
courses.
D.
It was announced that EPC's next meeting would be held Wednesday,
November 18.
E.
All present applauded Associate Vice President Berry's recognition by
the I.os Angeles County Connnission for Women at its third annual
awards presentation of October 26, 1987. Associate Vice President
Berry was honored by the Connnission as one of its "at large

continuation of OctobeJ:: 21 CUrricultnn Agenda (Note: Although the order
of the General Education proposals was altered thoughout the meeting to
acconunodate guests, the minutes will record the courses in the order they
were listed in the October 21 agenda, unless groups of courses were
approved simultaneous!y by the Committee. )
As agreed, the connnittee considered the implementation schedule proposed
for the courses approved to satisfy the new Multicultural Requirement for
Credential candidates. During discussion, the Committee approved by
unanimous consent the inclusion of the Multicultural course list in the
1988-89 university catalog. After further discussion, it was

Requirement for Credential candidates contained in Joseph
Schieffer's memorandum of September 22, 1987.

Acceptance of a course as meeting this requirement shall
be based on when the course was completed. Courses from
the "old" list shall be acceptable if completed prior to
June 30, 1990. Courses from the "new" list shall be
acceptable if completed after July 1, 1988.

department currently has six courses in Section C of General

EPC Chair Pat Nichelson then announced that the School of
communication and Professional Studies had requested the Committee
to consider out of the curriculum cycle two Experimental courses
that, if approved, would be taught during Spring 1988 by Dr. Hillel
Ruskin, visiting professor from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
'Ihe corrnnittee agreed to review the courses at its November 18
meeting.
Due to the lateness of the hour, the Committee agreed to consider
items under New Business at its November 18 meeting.
