• OF Ashton Perritt went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and a home run vs. Elon, Tuesday. Perritt’s
hits and RBIs were both career highs for the OF in a game.
• As a pitcher, Perritt recorded his career-high 11th save of the season in win over UNC
Asheville, 4/26. Perritt’s save total is the second most in a season in program history.
• 2B Ryan Seiz leads the Big South with a .430 batting average in conference games and is
third in the conference in batting average in all games.
• Seiz leads the Big South in home runs, runs scored, total bases and slugging percentage.
• The 2B is also sixth in the conference in RBIs and also among the top 10 in doubles and on
base percentage.
• Seiz and SS Dalton Britt are the only two Flames to start every Liberty game this season.
• 1B Alex Close drove in two runs with two hits in 4-3 win over Coastal Carolina, last Saturday.
He leads the Flames with a .415 batting average with runners in scoring position.
• Close ranks fifth in the Big South in RBIs, sixth in home runs and is ninth in the slugging
percentage.
• C Danny Grauer had a two-run double to tie the game and then scored the go-ahead run in
Liberty’s 4-3 win over Coastal Carolina, this past Saturday.
• Grauer leads the conference with 26 RBIs in Big South games only. He is tied for fourth in
home runs, is sixth in slugging percentage and is seventh in RBIs among Big South hitters.
• OF Nick Lacik collected his second four-hit contest of the season in 7-1 win over Coastal
Carolina, last Friday. The OF also scored two runs.
• Lacik is seventh in the Big South Conference with 27 walks. The Liberty leadoff hitter has a
.385 on base percentage.
• OF Will Shepherd is hitting .458 with two outs and runners in scoring position this season.
Last Friday, Shepherd drove in a career-high three runs, with a bases-clearing double in
Liberty’s 7-1 win over Coastal Carolina.
• RHP Matt Marsh recorded back-to-back saves in 4-3 and 2-1 wins over Coastal Carolina,
this past Saturday and Sunday. He also pitched two scoreless innings against Elon, Tuesday.
• Marsh has not allowed a run since Feb. 18. During the span, RHP has made 14
appearances, pitching 26 scoreless innings. He enters the weekend with a 0.66 ERA.
• LHP Shawn Clowers ran his record to 7-0 on the season with three wins over five games,
4/22-4/27. He recorded the victory at Clemson on 4/22 and picked-up back-to-back victories
against UNC Asheville, 4/26 and 4/27. The LHP is tied for fourth in the Big South in wins.
• Clowers has made a career-high 17 appearances and has posted a 1.12 ERA.
• On Tuesday, Clowers was named to the Gregg Olson Award Watch List.
• RHP Trey Lambert has been named to the National Pitcher of the Year Watch List.
Lambert leads the Big South Conference in wins with a 10-1 record. His win total ranks
seventh nationally.
• Lambert ranks sixth in ERA (1.92) and sixth in innings pitched (87.0) in the conference.
• RHP Parker Bean is tied for fourth in the Big South Conference in wins with a 7-1 record.
He has the eighth best ERA (2.37) and is tied for fourth in the conference in strikeouts.

• Defending champion Liberty has been tabbed to finish
on top in the Big South Conference’s North Division
standings by the conference’s head coaches in the
league’s annual preseason poll.
• Coastal Carolina was chosen to finish the year as the
South Division’s top team.
• This season will be the second year of divisional play for
Big South teams. The 12-team conference will be split
into two six-team divisions with each team playing 27 Big
South games each.
• This season, the Big South Baseball Championship
will be played at the Winthrop Ballpark in Rock Hill, S.C.,
May 20-24. The conference champion will receive the
league’s automatic bid to a NCAA Regional.

record at Liberty Baseball Stadium.
• On April 4, the Flames drew 2,792 fans against VMI, setting new stadium record.
• The Flames posted a 25-9 mark in their first season at the Liberty Baseball Stadium in 2013.

• Radford enters the weekend with a 30-25 overall record and 15-9 Big South mark. The
Highlanders are tied for third place in the Big South’s North Division, but can still finish in second
place in the division and claim the No. 3 seed for next week’s conference tournament.
• Radford lost to N.C. State, 6-1, at RU Baseball Stadium on Tuesday, snapping a five-game
wining streak.
• Last weekend, the Highlanders swept a three-game series at UNC Asheville in Big South play.
Radford has won five straight conference games.
• Liberty has played Radford on the diamond the second-most times of any opponent in Flames’
program history. Only Coastal Carolina has met Liberty more.
• Highlanders head coach Joe Raccuia is in his seventh season at Radford. Raccuia has lead his
alma mater to a 199-186-1 record during his tenure.
• Last season, Liberty took three out of the five meetings between the two schools. The Flames
won two of the three games during the regular season at Liberty Baseball Stadium, May 16-18.
At the 2013 Big South Baseball Championship, Radford won the first meeting between the two

• Liberty enters the weekend with 38 wins, two shy of 40.
• Liberty has won 40 or more games in a season three times in program history - 1983, 2010 and
2012.
• Two of the three have come during Flames head coach Jim Toman’s tenure.
• Under Toman, the Flames recorded 40-win seasons in 2012 and 2010. The Flames posted a
school record for wins during a 43-18 season in 2010, while recording a 41-19 mark in 2012.
• The only other time, the Flames collected 40 wins was in 1983 under Liberty’s first head coach

Liberty Clinches Big South Regular Season Title
• With a 7-1 win over Coastal Carolina last Friday, Liberty captured the 2014 Big South
regular season title and clinched the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Big South Baseball
Championship in Rock Hill, S.C., this upcoming Tuesday - Saturday.
• It is the third Big South regular season title in program history and Liberty’s first since
2000.
• Liberty also won the conference’s regular season title in 1998 and 2000.
• In addition, the Flames have won a program record 22 Big South games this season.
The mark eclipses the 19 Big South wins by the 2010 Flames.
Pitching Making Mark
• Liberty enters the week with the seventh-best winning percentage in the nation (38-12,
.760). One of the key elements of head coach Jim Toman’s team’s success has been
its mound corps, this season.
• The Flames enters the weekend with a Big South-leading 2.55 ERA. Liberty ranks
12th nationally in the category.
• Liberty pitching also ranks 14th nationally with eight shutouts. The Flames recorded
six consecutive shutouts in Big South contests from March 28 - April 6. Liberty did not
allow a run in a sweep of a three-game series at Presbyterian College, March 28-30,
and during a three-game sweep of a series against VMI at Liberty Baseball Stadium,
April 4-6.
• Liberty pitching has held opponents to .221 batting average and allowed opponents
3.0 runs per game this season, the 12th fewest in the nation.
• Over their last 30 games, the Flames have a 2.33 ERA and held opponents to a .217
batting average. Liberty is allowing 2.7 runs per game during the span.

Liberty Among Top 50 in Attendance
• Liberty averaged 1,441 fans per home date at Liberty Baseball Stadium this season.
• The Flames’ average attendance ranked 42nd in the nation on the latest NCBWA Attendance Report for games through May 11.
• Liberty has drawn 33,145 fans (46th in total attendance) over 27 games at Liberty Baseball Stadium, this season.
• Since opening Liberty Baseball last season, the Flames have averaged 1,191 fans per game.
Clowers Selected to Gregg Olson Watch List
• Liberty pitcher Shawn Clowers is one of 80 players who appear on the watch list for the 2014 Gregg Olson Award. The award
honors college baseball’s “Breakout Player of the Year”.
• Clowers, a junior, has become a key member of the Liberty bullpen this season. The left-hander enters the weekend, having posted
a 7-0 record and a 1.12 ERA over a career-high 40 1/3 innings. He has made a career-high and team-leading 17 appearances, all in
relief. The junior has struck out 39 batters, walked 12 and held opponents to a .156 batting average in 2014.
• With seven wins, Clowers is tied for fourth in the Big South Conference in wins. The Axton, Va., native also earned Co-Big South
Pitcher of the Week honors for March 17-23, this season.
• Before this year, Clowers had made 20 appearances during his first two seasons at Liberty. He had never pitched more 13 2/3 innings in a single year.
Perritt Named to Midseason NCBWA Stopper Watch List
• Liberty reliever Ashton Perritt is one of 50 relief pitchers named to the midseason watch list for the National Collegiate Baseball
Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Award. The honor is annually given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I.
• Perritt, who also starts in the outfield for the Flames, has posted a 1-1 record with a 1.80 ERA and 11 saves in 17 appearances this
season. The junior right-hander has struck out 24 and walked three in 25 innings.
• Perritt’s 11 saves are a career-high for the right-hander and are the second most in a season in school history behind 16 by Josh
Brey in 2000.
• He enters the week with 21 career saves, ranking second on the all-time program list behind Brey, who posted 27 from 1999-2001.
Lambert Named to National Pitcher of the Year Watch List
• Senior right-hander Trey Lambert has been selected as one of 47 pitchers listed on the first watch list for the 2014 National Pitcher
of the Year Award.
• The Pitcher of the Year Award, sponsored by Diamond, will be presented during the National College Baseball Hall of Fame’s annual Night of Champions on June 28 in Lubbock, Texas.
• Lambert enters the week with a 10-1 record with a 2.17 ERA over 87 innings. The senior leads the Big South Conference and is
second in the nation in wins. He has struck out 56 and walked 15 in 12 starts this season.
• The right-hander Lambert also has pitched three complete games, two of which were shutouts, and has held opponents to a .215
batting average.
• After pitching a one-hit shutout in a 5-0 win at Presbyterian College on March 28, Lambert was named Big South Conference
Pitcher of the Week for March 31. He also received several national honors, as he was selected an NCAA.com Top Performer for
Week 7 and an ECAC Player of the Week.
Close, Lambert Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 Team
• Liberty Flames pitcher Trey Lambert and first baseman Alex Close have been selected to the Capital One Academic NCAA Division
I All-District 3 baseball team for their excellence in the classroom and on the baseball diamond.
• Lambert, a senior, leads the Big South Conference in wins with a 10-1 record in 2014. A member of the National Pitcher of the Year
watch list, the right-hander has posted a team-leading 2.17 ERA over 87 innings, striking out 56 and walking 15. The team captain
has pitched three complete games and two shutouts in 2014.
• Off the field, Lambert is slated to graduate in May with an undergraduate degree in health promotion and is currently maintaining
a 3.94 cumulative GPA. A two-time Big South Presidential Honor Roll member, the pitcher was recently named the recipient of the
2014 Rock Royer/Mac Rivera Award, honoring the top graduating senior student-athlete at Liberty University who best exemplifies
the standards and lives of both of these great Christian men. In addition, he is active in various community projects.
• Close, a junior, has hit .328 with 30 runs scored and a team-high 41 RBIs in 49 games this season. The team captain has belted
six home runs and posted a .492 slugging percentage. The Hoover, Ala., native has collected 15 multiple-hit game and leads the
Flames with a .415 batting average with runners in scoring position in 2014.
• Academically, Close has maintained a 3.84 cumulative GPA, while pursuing an undergraduate degree in business administration:
finance. A member of the Big South Presidential Honor Roll, the first baseman serves a representative on Liberty’s Student-Athlete
Advisory Committee and is involved in several community outreach programs.
• Both Lambert and Close recently helped Liberty’s baseball program win the athletics department’s Darius Dixon Service award,
given to the individual or team who unselfishly gives of their time to make a difference in the greater Lynchburg community.
