• 2B Ryan Seiz has at least one hit in eight straight games. It is the second longest streak of
the season for the second baseman, who had a nine-game hitting streak earlier this season.
• Seiz leads the Big South with a .430 batting average in conference games and is third in the
conference in batting average in all games.
• Seiz leads the Big South in home runs, runs scored, total bases and slugging percentage.
• The 2B is also sixth in the conference in RBIs and also among the top 10 in doubles and on
base percentage.
• Seiz and SS Dalton Britt are the only two Flames to start every Liberty game this season.
• 1B Alex Close drove in two runs with two hits in 4-3 win over Coastal Carolina, Saturday. He
leads the Flames with a .422 batting average with runners in scoring position.
• Close ranks fifth in the Big South in RBIs, sixth in home runs and is ninth in the slugging
percentage.
• C Danny Grauer had a two-run double to tie the game and then scored the go-ahead run in
Liberty’s 4-3 win over Coastal Carolina, Saturday.
• Grauer is tied for fourth in home runs among Big South hitters. He is seventh in RBIs and is
sixth in slugging percentage in the conference.
• OF Nick Lacik collected his second four-hit contest of the season in 7-1 win over Coastal
Carolina, Friday night. The OF also scored two runs.
• Lacik is seventh in the Big South Conference with 27 walks. The Liberty leadoff hitter has a
.385 on base percentage.
• Lacik’s first triple as a Flame drove in two runs at Virginia, last Wednesday.
• OF Will Shepherd is hitting .500 with two outs and runners in scoring position this season.
This past Friday, Shepherd drove in a career-high three runs, with a bases-clearing double in
Liberty’s 7-1 win over Coastal Carolina.
• RHP Matt Marsh recorded back-to-back saves in 4-3 and 2-1 wins over Coastal Carolina,
Saturday and Sunday.
• Marsh has not allowed a run since Feb. 18. During the span, RHP has made 13 appearances and pitched 24 scoreless innings. He enters the weekend with a 0.71 ERA.
• LHP Shawn Clowers ran his record to 7-0 on the season with three wins over five games,
4/22-4/27. He recorded the victory at Clemson on 4/22 and picked-up back-to-back victories
against UNC Asheville, 4/26 and 4/27. The LHP is tied for fourth in the Big South in wins.
• Clowers has made a career-high 17 appearances and has posted a 1.12 ERA.
• RHP Trey Lambert has been named to the National Pitcher of the Year Watch List.
Lambert leads the Big South Conference in wins with a 10-1 record. His win total ranks ninth
nationally.
• Lambert ranks sixth in ERA (1.92) and sixth in innings pitched (87.0) in the conference.
• RHP Ashton Perritt recorded his career-high 11th save of the season in win over UNC
Asheville, 4/26. Perritt’s save total is the second most in a season in program history.
• Perritt is on the midseason watch list for NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award.
• RHP Parker Bean is tied for fourth in the Big South Conference in wins with a 7-1 record.
He has the ninth best ERA (2.37) and is tied for fourth in the conference in strikeouts.

• Defending champion Liberty has been tabbed to finish
on top in the Big South Conference’s North Division
standings by the conference’s head coaches in the
league’s annual preseason poll.
• Coastal Carolina was chosen to finish the year as the
South Division’s top team.
• This season will be the second year of divisional play for
Big South teams. The 12-team conference will be split
into two six-team divisions with each team playing 27 Big
South games each.
• This season, the Big South Baseball Championship
will be played at the Winthrop Ballpark in Rock Hill, S.C.,
May 20-24. The conference champion will receive the
league’s automatic bid to a NCAA Regional.

Liberty Baseball Stadium - the New Home of Flames Baseball
• Liberty is 22-4 at Liberty Baseball Stadium this season, after sweeping a three-game series
from Coastal Carolina, this past weekend.
• On April 4, the Flames drew 2,792 fans against VMI, setting new stadium record.
• The Flames posted a 25-9 mark in their first season at the Liberty Baseball Stadium in 2013.
• Liberty won its first Big South Baseball Championship since 2000 at its new facility. The
stadium served as the host site for the conference tournament.
• After 34 years of playing at Worthington Stadium, the Flames christened the new facility, with

• Elon enters Tuesday’s contest with an 26-25 record and a 12-15 mark in the Southern
Conference. The Phoenix are currently in fifth place in the SoCon standings.
• Elon is in its last year as a member of the SoCon. Next year, the Phoenix are moving to the
Colonial Athletic Association.
• Tuesday’s game is the last regular season game for the Phoenix.
• This past weekend, Elon dropped all three games of their final SoCon series at Furman.
• Head coach Mike Kennedy is in his 18th year at Elon and has posted a 603-433-3 record. He
has led his alma mater to four regular season and two tournament Southern Conference titles. He
led the Phoenix to the program’s first-ever NCAA Regional final in 2013.
• The Flames and Phoenix met earlier this season in Elon, N.C. Liberty defeated Elon, 4-2, at
Latham Stadium on March 2.
• The March 2 contest was the first meeting between the two teams since 2010 and only the third
contest between the two since 2003.
• Elon was a member of the Big South Conference, before leaving for the Southern Conference
after the 2003 season.

• Liberty, a 23-year member of the Big South Conference, has compiled a 370-236-1
(.610) record against the Big South Conference’s current membership since 1976. Liberty
has captured four Big South baseball titles, including the 2013 crown.
• This season, Liberty is 22-1 in Big South Conference play, claiming the conference’s
regular season title and the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Big South Baseball Championship.
• The Flames have won 20 straight conference contests, setting a new program record.

Liberty Clinches Big South Regular Season Title
• With a 7-1 win over Coastal Carolina on Friday, Liberty captured the 2014 Big South
regular season title and clinched the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Big South Baseball
Championship in Rock Hill, S.C., May 20-24.
• Liberty has captured their third Big South regular season title in program history and
their first since 2000.
• Liberty has also won the conference’s regular season title in 1998 and 2000.
• In addition, the Flames have won a program record 22 Big South games this season.
The mark eclipses the 19 Big South wins by the 2010 Flames.
Closing in on 40 Wins
• Liberty enters the week with 38 wins, two shy of 40.
• Liberty has won 40 or more games in a season four times in program history. Three of
the four have come under head coach Jim Toman.
• Under Toman, the Flames posted back-to-back 40 win seasons in 2011 and 2102. The
Flames posted a school record 43 wins during a 43-18 season in 2011, while posting a
41-19 mark in 2012.
• The only other time, the Flames collected 40 wins was in 1983 under Liberty’s first
head coach Al Worthington. The Flames posted a 40-17 record during their run to an
appearance in the NAIA National Tournament.
Recognizing the Seniors
•This past Saturday, the Liberty baseball program recognized the five seniors who are
playing in their final regular season home game in a Liberty uniform, this evening.
• Pitchers Brett Fulghum, Trey Lambert and Matt Marsh, along with catcher Danny
Grauer and outfielder Nick Lacik were honored for their contributions to Liberty
baseball during their time with program.
• In addition, managers Matt Bonferraro and Dan Forbes were recognized for their
efforts.

Pitching Making Mark
• Liberty enters the week with the seventh-best winning percentage in the nation (38-11, .766). One of the key elements of head
coach Jim Toman’s team’s success has been its mound corps, this season.
• The Flames enter the week with a Big South-leading 2.54 ERA. Liberty is also ranks 11th nationally in the category.
• Liberty pitching also ranks 10th nationally with eight shutouts. The Flames recorded six consecutive shutouts in Big South contests
from March 28 - April 6. Liberty did not allow a run in a sweep of a three-game series at Presbyterian College, March 28-30, and during a three-game sweep of a series against VMI at Liberty Baseball Stadium, April 4-6.
• Liberty pitching has held opponents to .220 batting average and allowed opponents 2.9 runs per game this season, the eighth
fewest in the nation.
• Over their last 30 games, the Flames have a 2.17 ERA and held opponents to a .213 batting average. Liberty is allowing 2.5 runs
per game during the span.
Average Attendance
• Liberty enters its final home game of the season on Tuesday, the Flames have averaged 1,473 fans per home date this season.
• The mark ranks 42nd in the nation on the latest NCBWA Attendance Report for games through May 11.
• Liberty has drawn 36,835 fans (46th in total attendance) over 25 games at Liberty Baseball Stadium, this season.
• Since opening Liberty Baseball last season, the Flames have averaged 1,191 fans per game.
Perritt Named to Midseason NCBWA Stopper Watch List
• Liberty reliever Ashton Perritt is one of 50 relief pitchers named to the midseason watch list for the 10th annual National Collegiate
Baseball Writers Association
(NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Award. The honor is annually given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I.
• Perritt, who also starts in the outfield for the Flames, has posted a 1-1 record with a 1.80 ERA and 11 saves in 17 appearances this
season. The junior right-hander has struck out 24 and walked three in 25 innings.
• Perritt’s 11 saves are a career-high for the right-hander and are the second most in a season in school history behind 16 by Josh
Brey in 2000.
• He enters the week with 21 career saves, ranking second on the all-time program list behind Brey, who posted 27 from 1999-2001.
Lambert Named to National Pitcher of the Year Watch List
• Senior right-hander Trey Lambert has been selected as one of 47 pitchers listed on the first watch list for the 2014 National Pitcher
of the Year Award.
• The Pitcher of the Year Award, sponsored by Diamond, will be presented during the National College Baseball Hall of Fame’s annual Night of Champions on June 28 in Lubbock, Texas.
• Lambert enters the week with a 10-1 record with a 2.17 ERA over 87 innings. The senior leads the Big South Conference and is
second in the nation in wins. He has struck out 56 and walked 15 in 12 starts this season.
• The right-hander Lambert also has pitched three complete games, two of which were shutouts, and has held opponents to a .215
batting average.
• After pitching a one-hit shutout in a 5-0 win at Presbyterian College on March 28, Lambert was named Big South Conference
Pitcher of the Week for March 31. He also received several national honors, as he was selected an NCAA.com Top Performer for
Week 7 and an ECAC Player of the Week.
Close, Lambert Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 Team
• Liberty Flames pitcher Trey Lambert and first baseman Alex Close have been selected to the Capital One Academic NCAA Division
I All-District 3 baseball team for their excellence in the classroom and on the baseball diamond.
• Lambert, a senior, leads the Big South Conference in wins with a 10-1 record in 2014. A member of the National Pitcher of the Year
watch list, the right-hander has posted a team-leading 2.17 ERA over 87 innings, striking out 56 and walking 15. The team captain
has pitched three complete games and two shutouts in 2014.
• Off the field, Lambert is slated to graduate in May with an undergraduate degree in health promotion and is currently maintaining
a 3.94 cumulative GPA. A two-time Big South Presidential Honor Roll member, the pitcher was recently named the recipient of the
2014 Rock Royer/Mac Rivera Award, honoring the top graduating senior student-athlete at Liberty University who best exemplifies
the standards and lives of both of these great Christian men. In addition, he is active in various community projects.
• Close, a junior, has hit .330 with 29 runs scored and a team-high 41 RBIs in 48 games this season. The team captain has belted
six home runs and posted a .497 slugging percentage. The Hoover, Ala., native and team captain has collected 15 multiple-hit game
and leads the Flames with a .422 batting average in 2014.
• Academically, Close has maintained a 3.84 cumulative GPA, while pursuing an undergraduate degree in business administration:
finance. A member of the Big South Presidential Honor Roll, the first baseman serves a representative on Liberty’s Student-Athlete
Advisory Committee and is involved in several community outreach programs.
• Both Lambert and Close recently helped Liberty’s baseball program win the athletics department’s Darius Dixon Service award,
given to the individual or team who unselfishly gives of their time to make a difference in the greater Lynchburg community.
