What is this Data Point?
This target measures the percent of students
who are proficient or advanced in reading at
specific grade levels. Students are assessed
three times per year and once they

This target measures the percent of students
who completed Algebra 1 or equivalent course

This target measures the percent of first time
ninth grade students who completed their ninth
grade English or math course with a C or higher.
Students must complete both semesters of the
course with a C or better. Students must be
enrolled in a credit-bearing English or math
course.

This target measures the percent of students
ineligible to participate in extra-curricular
activities for three or four marking periods
within the school year.
How is this Data Point Calculated?
Total number of students who met or exceeded the
spring benchmark as measured by reading scores on
the Measures of Academic Progress Assessment out
of the total number of test takers in the specific grade
level. Threshold scores align to the 60th and 80th
percentile scores for each grade level during the
spring administration.

Total number of first time ninth grade students who
earned a C or higher in both semesters of their creditbearing English or math course out of the students
continuing in MCPS at the end of 9th grade

on ACT.
Total number of students who graduated during the
school year and received combined score of 1650 or
above on SAT and/or 24 or above on ACT composite
scores out of the students who graduated during the
school year and took SAT and/or ACT.
AP of 3 or
Higher/IB of 4
or Higher
This measure is part of the college and career
readiness indicators that calculates the percent
of students who graduated that have ever
earned a 3 or higher on an Advanced
Placement exam or 4 or higher on an
International Baccalaureate exam.
Total number of students who graduated during the
school year with any AP exam score of 3 or higher or
IB exam score of 4 or higher out of the students who
graduated during the school year.
Graduation
This target measures the percent of students
who graduate within or before 4 or 5 years.
This includes students who graduate on time
and students who graduate early.
Total number of students who graduated with a
diploma within 4 or 5 years out of the total number
of students in the 4 or 5 year cohort.
