Statistics & Probability Theory
4 Credits ( 3L+1T +0P)
Formal concepts: Sample space, outcomes and events, random variable Probability,
conditional probability, expected value, moment generating function, specific discrete and
continuous distributions, e.g. Binomial, Poisson, Geometric, Pascal, Hypergeometric,
Uniform, Exponential, Weibull, Beta, Gamma, Erlang, Normal and student’s ‘t’ distribution.
Chi square and F distribution. Law of large numbers and central limit theorem, sampling
distributions, point and interval estimation, testing of hypothesis, large and small samples
Chi-Square test as a test of goodness of fit.
