HMW Room 1E01/1E02 Topic Special Education Comprehensive Program Improvement Plan (CPIP) Dyslexia Evaluation and Services Parent Survey Discussion CPIP is derived from district’s performance on Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), State Performance Plan (SPP); Performance‐Based Monitoring Analysis System (PBMAS); Academic Excellence Indicator System; A Review of Special Education by Dr. Tom Hehir; state monitoring; and feedback from stakeholders. Transition between school levels and to life post‐graduation needs to be addressed. Independent living skills need to be addressed. The needs of students with severe disabilities must be addressed. Parents expressed concern with the process used to evaluate special education personnel. The Dyslexia Flowchart was reviewed. 156 evaluation specialists have been trained in dyslexia identification and have that as part of their responsibility. Teachers K – 12 are going through extensive training provided by Neuhaus. The training meets the state’s dyslexia requirements. The district will ensure a solid Tier 1 – Tier 3 process. Input is needed from a large number of parents. Parents could be surveyed following the ARD/IEP meeting. Multiple means to complete the survey will be developed. Response/Action CPIP will be reviewed and adjusted to include recommendations. Special education personnel are evaluated using the same process used for general education personnel. Immediate identification and interventions are available for all students. Training for all personnel has been initiated and will be ongoing.
