Strathmore holds its first community preview in the Concert Hall with a program by the National Philharmonic featuring Bernstein’s Overture to Candide, Villa Lobos’ Little Train of Caipira (all 1,700 children in attendance per concert will perform synchronized hand motions along with this piece), Russell Peck’s The Thrill of the Orchestra (Mr. Peck will narrate), and a concerto performance by one of the three local high-school student winners of the National Philharmonic/Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras Concerto Competition.
