Black Iron Oxide Particles, 0.2µm

DESCRIPTION
Polysciences’ Black Iron Oxide Particles are magnetically responsive
particles made of colloidal Black Iron Oxide. Special milling techniques
in the manufacturing of this product assure a fairly uniform spheroidallike particle shape, as well as distinctive particle size distributions and
a very low amount of aggregates and agglomerates (see Figure 1). The
mean particle diameter is in the range of 0.2-0.3 microns (see Figure 2).
Polysciences’ Black Iron Oxide Particles can be used in many applications,
including the formulation of single component dry toners for photocopy
processes. The particles are micronized and easy to wet in water; therefore,
this product can be processed in high-speed mixers, such as dissolvers,
to prepare the slurry for spray drying. However, in order to achieve the
best degree of dispersion, the viscosity and flow of the slurry have to be
optimized by varying the solids content, pH and the level of surfactant.
