Niagara Falls Tour Saturday September 6, 2014 8:30am - 5:30pm Bus leaves J-lot at 8:30am returning to RIT by 5:30pm Niagara Falls Power Authority The Niagara Power Plant produces a steady supplies of clean, carbon-free hydroelectricity. Located about 4 1/2 miles downstream from the Falls, consists of two main facilities each with 12 or 13 turbines. In between the two plants is a forebay capable of holding about 740 million gallons of water. Water is diverted from the Niagara River—up to 375,000 gallons a second—through the Robert Moses plant spins turbines that power generators, converting this mechanical energy into electrical energy.
