Noteworthy Observations
• The Community
• The need for more
holds us in high
Primary care
regard
providers was very
evident
• We have more than
a mission on paper • Local Specialists
but with lives
are important to an
aging community
• Under reform, our
(travel)
challenges are huge
• We can’t rest on our
laurels
Assumptions
•
•
•
•
Mandates affect direction
Mandates affect vision
Technology is here …. Keep up!
Our workforce is more important than
ever (look at the care scores)
• Core values can’t be compromised
Assumptions (cont)
• Standards of care are high
• Consumer expectations are high
• Forward thinking is an absolute (without it
large or small organizations face disaster)
• Resources are limited (use them wisely)
• The reform imperative is required but the
perfect solution is elusive
Assumptions (more?)
• Partnerships are a given and they all look
different
• The hospital in our community is one of
the largest employers thereby a large
contributor economically
From Our Strategic Plan
• The Cook Hospital has spent its first 50
years becoming a highly respected small
rural hospital with tenacity and a proven
niche armed with a vision. Our next 50
years we will spend passionately keeping
the mission and vision alive to serve our
citizens.
