How Convincing Are You?
A persuasive essay must state an opinion clearly and include logical
reasons to support the opinion. Choose one of the following.
Prompts:
1. Many school systems have decided to go to adopt a year round
school calendar. Write a letter to our superintendent either in
favor or opposed to this idea.
2. All of your life you have wanted a _______________, but your
parents have said no way! Convince your parents you should be
able to have _______________.
3. Mr. Hudson announced that because of dress code violations,
students at MBJH will now be required to wear uniforms. Write a
letter to Mr. Hudson letting him know whether this is a good or
bad idea.
4. Your parents have limited the amount of time you can use your
cell phone. They have also said you cannot have text messaging.
Convince your parents this is not a good idea.
5. Your curfew is 8:00 on Friday nights. Convince your parents you
should be able to stay out later on weekend evenings.
