Student Volunteer Positions available in NIST Research Library Gaithersburg, MD Summer 2016 The NIST Research Library http://www.nist.gov/nvl/ is looking for two students for the Student Volunteer Program (SVP) at NIST; this is an unpaid position for the summer. Volunteers must be at least age 16. Library Aid – to assist with special projects in the Research Library. Projects include participating in an Archival Journal Study by measuring stacks space for deaccessioning and reallocation of books and journals; updating the Library’s Online Catalog and Electronic Resources Management System (ERMS). Experience in working/volunteering in libraries before a plus! IT Technician – assist with installing and tools and services in the Library’s Innovation Corner and Emerging Tech Bar. Introduce new tools, such as the Sprout, Electronic Lab Notebook, data visualization SW, 3-D printers to library users and demonstrate functionality. This position requires technical curiosity, self-motivation and communication skills to make tools work from opening the box to installation and teaching how to use it.
