Pride and Prejudice: Summer Reading Chart
Literary critics often cite Pride and Prejudice as one of the greatest English novels for its tightly constructed plot, intricately drawn characters, and distinctive narrati ve
voice. While earlier novels demonstrate an emerging narrative complexity we can recognize as novelistic, Pride and Prejudice is a work that exemplifies the novel in the
English tradition. As you read, take notes on the following topics, paying particular attention to how they develop through the characters and their interactions. While
direct quotations are not necessary, you should try to give detailed summaries as we will be working with the novel for the first few weeks of school. Type your
observations directly on this sheet; you will submit it to turnitin.com upon your return to school, and it will be worth 20 points in the completion category.
