During this session presenters will discuss how to use literature with various genres and
creating dialogues that result in oral, written and dramatic responses to a text. Engaging
students first in oral dialogue is critical for students working in two or more languages.
Dr. Alma Flor Ada and F. Isabel Campoy believe that "Effective reading goes
beyond finding out what is written on a page. It is indeed a dialogue
between reader and text in which the reader contributes as much as the
text. Reading is more than a source of information and entertainment. It is
an empowering act."
