DR. SHAWN GINWRIGHT Author Ÿ Professor Ÿ Ac9vist Dr. Ginwright’s bold and nuanced presenta9on proposes a new movement of healing jus9ce to repair the damage done by the erosion of hope resul9ng from structural violence in urban communi9es. Drawing on ethnographic case studies from around the country, as discussed in his new book Hope and Healing in Urban Educa2on, he emphasizes the need to place healing and hope at the center of our educa9on and poli9cal strategies. In his talk he will share how “teacher ac9vists” in community organiza9ons and stressed schools are employing healing strategies to help their students become powerful civic actors.
