OVERVIEW
During this workshop, presenters will provide an overview of the amended
Commissioner’s Regulations (CR Part 154) as they relate to the development of ENL
(formerly ESL) programs in schools. The discussion will include: elements of an
effective ENL program, the mandates as indicated in the NYSED/OBE-WL Units of
Study Chart, Stand-Alone and Integrated ENL instruction, the new language
progressions, co-teaching models and programming issues.
AUDIENCE
All Teachers of ELLs: Dual Language, Transitional Bilingual, ENL teachers and
mainstream teachers working with ELLs (content area teachers teaching the
Integrated ENL component).
