Pete King, WIC Program Consultant, will be retiring from state service on March 2, 2016. Pete
has been with the state since March 1983 and will retire with 33 years of service! Pete has
worked out of the MDH St. Cloud District Office during his career serving WIC local agencies in
the west central and southwest regions of the state. Many of you have worked with Pete and
join the state WIC team in wishing Pete the best in his retirement and this next phase of his life.
Pete has made many contributions to the WIC Program over the years including helping to build
and strengthen the capacity of local WIC Programs to serve eligible individuals in the
community. He has been a member of the Program Unit at the State WIC office and has served
on various workgroups. Pete’s expertise has been invaluable in the Program Unit and the WIC
Section and he will sure be missed. Pete can be reached through March 2nd at
[email protected] and after that at [email protected].
Here is some information Pete shared about his upcoming retirement:
What did you do at MDH? What will you miss most about working here?
I am a Program Consultant in the WIC Program. I serve a District of about 30 Counties.
What are your plans post-retirement? Taking any trips? Moving anywhere?
I'll plan on traveling some, but no concrete plan right now. I will fish, hunt and garden
when I feel like it.
Any other parting thoughts or fond memories you'd like to convey?
I am in awe of the work and results I've seen in the past 33 years at WIC/Public
Health/MDH. Bravo to us all.
Congratulations Pete on your retirement and thank you for your service to WIC!
