Position Objective
Women Infant & Children (WIC) Specialist accountabilities include responsibility for: provide nutrition
services to a designated client population, to include nutritional screening, assessment, education,
counseling and referral; plan and coordinate WIC activities to meet program requirements as effectively
and efficiently as possible; plan and coordinate nutrition services and ensure WIC participants receive
quality and appropriate benefits; and quality customer service and to perform related duties as
assigned.
Additionally, the position provides public health nutrition education to individuals, families, groups and
the community which are directed towards the prevention of disease and disability, promotion of
nutritional wellbeing, healthy lifestyles, and protection of the community's health. Collaborates with
public health staff, other professionals and community agencies in providing services. Must be available
to support the department during emergency situations and the overall mission, vision and objectives of
Community Services.
