Instruments at a Glance for Minnesota Clinics and Providers
The use of standardized screening instruments to perform developmental and socialemotional screening in young children is essential for early identification and referral, but
poses challenges in the primary care setting due to limited time during office visits to
screen patients. Parent report screening instruments provide a quick, valid and reliable
and way to screen patients.
The developmental and social-emotional screening instruments listed below are the most
commonly used by health care providers. This list is a subset of all standardized
recommended instruments. For a complete list of developmental screening and socialemotional screening instruments recommended by the Minnesota Interagency
Developmental Screening Task Force, refer to All Instruments at a Glance.
