GRADING AND REPORTING Grades will reflect what a student knows and is able to do in relation to the MCPS curriculum. ! Subject teams/departments determine which assignments are to be reassessed. ! Students will be awarded the grade earned on that reassessment. ! Wootton’s primary focus with reassessment will be on those students who do not meet departmental standards. ! Reassessments are given within 3-5 days upon return of the original assignment. ! Reassessments may be in the original format or an alternative format. ! Teachers will assign a lowest grade of 50% to assignments that meet minimum standards. ! Assessments not attempted or not submitted by the deadline will receive a “0”. Work that is plagiarized will also earn a “0”. ! Homework checked for completion will account up to 10% of the marking period grade. ! Students are responsible for all work and assignments while away on school sponsored trips. Due dates and deadlines will coincide with the regular classroom schedule regardless of student absence from school for an approved sponsored trip. ! Grading scales will coincide with that of MCPS: A B C D E 90%-100% 80%-89% 70%-79% 60%-69% 0%-59% MATH DEPARTMENT ! Percentage scores are utilized in the determination of grades. ! Due dates and deadlines for daily homework are the same. Due dates and deadlines for other assignments are at the teacher’s discretion. ! Students whose performance does not reflect attainment of departmental or individual learning goals may have the opportunity to be reassessed if they have completed: the original assessment, the required assignments, and the reteaching/learning activities, as determined by the teacher. ! Reteaching / reassessment must occur within 4 days of the return of the assignment. ! Unit tests may not be reassessed. Revised August 2007
