ABSTRACT
ETERNAL WORLD
by
Suad Malhas Alhunaty
Master o~ Arts in Art
One,s li~e encompasses a small world surrounded by
many elements, ~eelings and thoughts are re~lected in
verbal and nonverbal ways. Mine is a world o~ many moods.
It is comprised o~ spiritual and emotional experiences. In
my art I attempt to express ~eelings ~rom memories. Images
are evoked ~rom my interior world to give visual embodiment
to the great variety o~ my innermost ~eelings. These images
speak o~ my country Jordan, o~ its Arabic culture, my
~amily, and my ~riends.
Found objects o~ paper, ~abrics, plus sand, oil and
acrylic paints combine to depict illusive memories.
The theme comes ~rom di~~erent subjects; sometimes I
~ind it in Arabic calligraphy, or patterns ~rom traditional
iv
dress or pieces of embroidery, or from my memories of
childhood- the places where I was raised.
All in all the pieces reflect the ambiguity of abstract work; my principal intent is to approach abstraction;
my desire is to evoke thought, to inspire a sense of touch,
and to stimulate some emotion in the viewer.
Thus, for me, visual works are very effective in
bringing memories to light that are otherwise too difficult
for me to describe in words.
