Layout of scaffolding and hoarding for Chichester 1 [PDF 102.60KB]

Dear All
Scaffolding and Willmott Dixon site office
Attached is a sketch of the proposed hoarding and scaffolding for Chichester I.
The green arrows indicate entrance/exit points for the building. You will notice the two fire exists
associated with the lecture theatre will become entrance and exit points, thus hopefully minimising
traffic through the building.
The blue line containing the words Welfare area, Hoist and with a turnstile and site access is where
the Willmott Dixon team will be based, and materials stored – The Site Compound. This will result in
a reduction in access width for the first set of steps between Chichester I and Pevensey I, but still
leaves significant space between Pevensey I and the handrail. The steps between Chichester I and
Shawcross remain full width, the only encroachment being the scaffolding footprint.
Scaffolding, this will go up around the whole building and remain in place for the duration of the
project. The aim being to minimise the noise and disruption that occurs while erecting/removing
scaffolding.
The initial stage of the work (full programme not available yet) will be to replace all of the windows
and clean the brickwork and concrete. To protect pedestrians from water and debris, and the
building from inclement weather, it is required that the scaffolding be clad in a monoflex sheeting.
The monoflex sheeting is essential but will have the effect of blocking natural light from the building.
Once the windows have been replaced and the cleaning completed, the monoflex sheeting will be
replaced with netting. The netting will allow natural light into the building but still stop debris falling.
The blocking of natural light is not ideal, but at least it is during the winter months and should only
last for a few months, when I have the works programme I will pass it on.
Schedule of activities:
•
Site Compound: Erection of Herras Fence (wire mesh) panels to establish Site Compound 9th November 2015
•
Commence Scaffolding - 9th November 2015
•
Hoarding at perimeters - 16th November 2015
•
Site accommodation, within Site Compound - 16th November 2015
Bikes
Within the proposed hoarding perimeter there are two bike racks. Notices have been placed on the
racks to ensure users know that they will not be available. In addition, additional racks will be placed
as close to the building as possible.
Benches
There are benches and tables by the side of Chichester I Lecture theatre and at the front of the
building, the intention is to temporarily relocate these, again as close to the current locations as
possible.
Thanks
Diane
