PROM The Prom will be held at the Hilton Hotel, 1750 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852 on Friday May 9th from 8 pm to midnight. Tickets are $50 and will go on sale on April 22nd. Students need to pay all obligations before purchasing a ticket. Tickets will be available until Thursday, May 8. No tickets will be sold the day of the Prom (May 9). AFTER-PROM Students may then proceed directly to the After-Prom event which will be held from 12:30 am to 5 am at the White Oak Recreation Center, 1700 April Lane, Silver Spring, MD 20904. Students purchasing a prom ticket are given a complimentary ticket to attend After-Prom at no additional cost. Seniors who do not purchase a prom ticket are still invited to attend the AfterProm event and may do so by purchasing an “After-Prom Only” ticket for only $10. “After-Prom Only” tickets are available to Seniors only and will be sold at the same time and location as prom tickets. PROM CHECKLIST Parents are urged to support the After-Prom event as it is a safe, well-chaperoned, alcohol/drug free celebration for our students. Students will be treated to fabulous entertainment, delicious food and generous prizes. The new White Oak Rec Center provides a spacious and comfortable place for students to relax and have fun with their friends. Buy tickets from April 22 – May 8. Go to Prom May 9, 8 PM to 12 am. The PTSA After-Prom Committee thanks you for supporting our After-Prom fundraising efforts this year! Counseling Department Counselors completed a classroom guidance lesson with 11th grade students in the Modern World classes. The lesson covered Naviance registration, an overview of Naviance and registration for the April 9th Junior College Fair. Students in AP World classes received the information regarding the Junior College Fair, but will not be receiving the full Naviance classroom guidance lesson until after the AP test has been completed. The Counseling Department hosted the Junior Parent night on April 1st. The presentation included an overview of the college application process, steps for college readiness, and covered all of the information shared in the summer senior meetings. This presentation will be available on the Springbrook High School website, or see attachment. Senior surveys were completed in all English classes on Friday, April 4th. The surveys included information regarding college acceptances and scholarship offerings. We will be sending out a copy of each student’s course requests later this month. Parents and students will have 10 days to make any changes to their course requests. Music Department / Music Boosters The Instrumental Music Program will be going to New York/New Jersey to perform in the Fiesta-Val Adjudicated Music Festival from April 10-12, 2014. This experience will give students the opportunity to participate in a nationally recognized music festival, and provide the music program with a formal evaluation by college and university music educators. In addition, the students will get to see a variety of historical and multicultural sites in the area. Join us on Friday, April 25th at 7:00 pm in the Auditorium for the Mr. Springbrook Competition! There will be musical performances, entertainment, and lots of laughs. Admission is $5.00, and all proceeds support the Music Department. Senior Candidates (already chosen by teachers) will compete all week to raise the most money at lunch. They will be dressed in costumes, according to theme, and points will be given each day according to earnings. Candidates will use their imagination, charm, energy, wit, and ingenuity to campaign to get the most points.
