Counseling Department
Counselors have been busy meeting with their students and entering course
requests. A letter will be mailed to parents and students in early April with the course

of courses is finalized.
Counselors will be meeting with all 11th grade students via social studies classes to
register them for the upcoming Junior College Fair and will also be giving them a brief

We continue to meet with our seniors and are helping them with their post-graduation
plans. We are also talking with our seniors who have not fulfilled all of their graduation
requirements. It is important that our seniors do not wait to complete and submit their
student service learning hours. Please remember, you cannot graduate and walk
across the stage unless ALL of your graduation requirements are met. In late February
letters were sent to parents of seniors at risk of not graduating. Please call your child’s
counselor if you have any questions.
The College and Career Center continues to have many scholarships available. Juniors
and seniors should be visiting The College and Career Center on a regular basis to hear
from college representatives and to learn about the many scholarships that are
available. Here are some wonderful programs available to our students through The

Community Yard Sale on April 25!
Is spring here yet? After a chilly and snow-filled February and early March, I think we
are all looking forward to warmer weather. It’s also time to plan for the annual
Community Yard Sale. It will be held on Saturday, April 25 from 9am-1pm in the
parking lot of White Oak Middle School. This is a great opportunity to rid your home or
apartment of the clutter and to make a little money for yourself. Last year participants
sold everything from gently used clothing, to bicycles, books and even a canoe!
Proceeds from the sale help to offset the costs of The Blueprint, the school’s student
newspaper. To reserve your spot, complete the form at the end of this newsletter and
send it with your check to the address on the form.
Parents of seniors
Now is the time to reserve a copy of the yearbook for your child. The yearbook staff is
putting the final touches on a great book that will sell out again just like last year’s
yearbook. To place your order, go to www.jostensyearbooks.com.

Congratulations to Boys Varsity Basketball!
Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Basketball team which made it to the state semifinals this year! It beat Paint Branch in the Section Semi-Finals on March 4, then
Sherwood in the Section Finals on March 7, and then again Dulaney in the Region

a loss there, we are extremely proud of our fantastic Boys Varsity Basketball Team!

stand helped to support our athletic program. Our outdoor concession stand will be
open for all home spring sport games, provided we have volunteers to help run it.
