The academy of Teacher Education brings rigor and
relevance to learning by providing students the
opportunity to learn what it takes to be a teacher.
Students learn how to plan lessons, teach those
lessons, and evaluate instructional practices by
working with four year old pre-school students
in a real life pre-school setting.

PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM
In these courses, students
become part of a team of
teachers for four year olds
in a pre-school setting.
Course content includes
focus on physical growth
and development,
effective guidance
techniques, behavior
patterns, social and
emotional development,
and the acquisition of
intellect. Study is
enhanced through
planning, observation, and
research projects that lead
play center activities in:
art,music, dramatic play,
gross and fine motor
activities, construction
and block play,

Students develop competence
in: creative learning and
communication techniques,
developmentally appropriate

that demonstrate their
developoment over time.
The student will compile
necessary information to
complete a professional
portfolio.
INTERNSHIP AND
COMPLETER PROGRAM
This program articulates
with Montgomery College.
Students can earn up to
nine college credits toward
a degree in Early
Childhood Education.
PATHWAY WITH MCPS
AND MONTGOMERY
COLLEGE
Montgomery College, in
collaboration with MCPS,
invites students who are high
school seniors with a 2.75
GPA or above to apply to the
innovative “Growing Teachers
Program.”
TEACHER EDUCATION
The teacher program (AAT)
at MC is a degree option for
MC students who want to
become certified teachers.
