The Academy of Finance, part of the National Academies
Foundation prepares students for post-secondary
education in business and finance-related majors that
demand a strong academic foundation. Students take
business courses, a culminating internship their Senior
year, and have the opportunity to run the school bank,
Panther Trust, in partnership with Educational Services
Federal Credit Union (ESFCU). Paint Branch is the only
ESFCU branch in a school that is completely operated by
students.
The Academies at Paint
Branch High School are
unique programs, often
part of larger, national, college preparatory programs,
which give our students
learning opportunities in
various areas ranging from
finance and culinary arts, to
engineering and the
military.
The Academy of Engineering technology is part of the
National Academy of Project Lead the Way (PLTW)
which prepares interested students to be successful in
engineering and engineering technology programs.
Students will develop a solid background in math skills and
concepts, preparing them to succeed in college
mathematics, and have a solid background for engineering
technology.

TRAININGCORPS(NJROTC)
The NJROTC program at Paint Branch is sponsored by
the U.S. Navy and MCPS. The curriculum is divided into
academic studies and leadership development. Academic
studies introduce the historical, scientific, and technical
aspects to naval science. Leadership development
concentrates on Cadet Corps activities, drill and
ceremonies, improving study habits and time-management
skills, developing effective communication skills, and
learning sound problem-solving techniques.
CHILDDEVELOPMENTAND
EDUCATIONACADEMIES
These two academies are designed for students who enjoy
working with children and want to explore the world of
teaching. Students create educational games, design lesson
plans and observe lessons implemented and taught by
peers. They can observe the success of the plan as the
student-teacher interacts with the students
RESTAURANTMANAGEMENT&
CULINARYARTS
The Restaurant Management and Culinary Arts Program,
secondary accredited by the American Culinary
Federation, is designed for students interested in
exploring a career in food service and culinary arts. In a
new state-of-the-art commercial chef's kitchen, students
manage the school’s restaurant, the Panther Paw, as well
as a catering company. They handle the finances,
inventory, menu planning, marketing, food costs and
preparation, while establishing a basic foundation in the
culinary arts.

Paint Branch High School Academy
of Science and Media elevates our
school and the secondary experience in order to prepare all of our
students for successful postsecondary experiences in the new
century. In this innovative program we address the current and
future demand for individuals to be
highly adaptable and to have strong
investigation, information, and
interpersonal skills.
The Science Signature at
Paint Branch High School offers our students exciting and
varied opportunities to explore sciences first hand and
apply what was learned from
the classroom with real life
experiences through internships to prepare them for post
– secondary education.
Our Medical Science Program is one of the leading
programs in the state of Mary-
land. The students and teachers have been recognized by
numerous county, state and
national institutions. Graduates
of this program have continued
their college studies in medicine as physicians, surgeons,
nurses, operating room specialists and pharmacists. Other
graduates have pursued degrees and careers in biomedical engineering, scientific research and teaching.
