Getting started
ECEN 1400, Introduction to Analog and Digital Electronics HW0: Getting started (0 pts, but you need all of this before Lab 1) 1. GET BUFFONE CARD ACCESS TO THE LAB
Access should be granted automatically. If you do not have
access after 9/4: Take your card to the ECEE receptionist
(1B55) and ask for access to the lab ECEE 281 and building (for
after hours). If you are not registered for the class, they cannot
give you this access. You will also get access to the Student
Resource Center across from the ECEE office so you can use the
printer for grading. Do not abuse this privalage.
2. GET AN ACCOUNT ON THE ECES SERVER.
This gives you access to the computers in the labs, in the SRC
etc. Go to: https://sac.colorado.edu/. Choose the host ECES.
3. PURCHASE A LAB KIT
These parts and tools will be used in this class and all other
ECEE lab classes. They are available for $100 at EE stores, just
across the hallway from the main office in 1B10. This class will
also need a power-supply kit (that you will also use again) for
lab 6. This costs $25. These will be available later in the
semester.
4. STATE YOUR PREFERENCES FOR OFFICE HOURS
Take the doodle poll at http://doodle.com/g6zzr6ms68rtbaz2#calendar . Your name is
optional. Click on each time you ARE available for office hours. We will do our best to
maximize overlap of professor and TA office hours with your availability.
4. INSTALL THE MULTISIM AND ULTIBOARD SOFTWARE
You will be using an integrated schematic capture, simulation
and hardware platform from National Instruments. Go to
http://ecee.colorado.edu/ecen1400/mydaq/ and log in with the
username and password sent out by email to the class. Follow the
installation instructions Multisim_Install. on the website. These
are for for Win7, but should work for other versions of
Windows. Mac users can install under BootCamp or use
Parallels. Note: there are some old, educational installation
codes floating around. If you use them, rather than the serial
number given below, you will have a limited installation of the
software unable to meet your needs in this class. Please use the
code given in the installation instructions.
