Research Internship Position (Spring 2016 – Fall 2016) The Center for Health, Identity, Behavior & Prevention Studies (CHIBPS) at New York University focuses on advancing research and knowledge to improve the lives of those affected with or by HIV, substance abuse and mental health burden. We are currently seeking undergraduate and graduate students to join our research team. Interns will work on several studies that focus on sexual behavior, substance use, mental health and healthcare access among a racially/ethnically diverse population of young gay and bisexual men, transgender women and gender non-conforming individuals. Intern Responsibilities: - Recruit new participants into the studies through community outreach Administer surveys and conduct participant assessments Enter, check and clean quantitative data Screen and schedule study participants Assist senior researchers with projects Additional responsibilities for those with phlebotomy/venipuncture experience: - Assist with the handling and collection of biological specimens including via venipuncture and phlebotomy Administer STI pre-test counseling Intern Requirements: - Minimum commitment of 12 hours/week during the spring/fall semesters or 20 hours/week during the summer Strong interpersonal skills Comfort working with diverse populations Respect for confidentiality Excellent attention to detail To apply: Email both a cover letter and resume to Staci Barton at [email protected] (applications without cover letters will not be reviewed).
