MN Clinical Assessment & Certification
 Standardized, rigorous assessment of clinical skills and experience.
 Independent assessors would recommend certification (or additional preparation) to a governing council or the Board of Medical Practice.
 IIMG must have lived in MN at least 2 years to receive certificate.
Clinical Preparation Program
 If needed.
 PRP‐like but focused on clinical experience.
 6 months full‐time w/stipends.
Sponsored residency
Residency MN certificate certifies clinical readiness, regardless of recency of graduation or U.S. clinical experience. (Privately funded slots for IIMGs)
Full MD license
MN underserved primary care residency
 Publicly funded spots reserved for IIMGs and others willing to serve in underserved areas of MN.
 Return of service obligation (5‐7 years in underserved area).
 Reimbursement obligation (IIMG would pay back some portion of program costs over time).
Apprenticeship
 Eligibility: MN‐certified IIMGs with 7+ years clinical experience (U.S. or international).
 Apprentices would practice with a limited license under physician supervision.
 Length: 4 years in primary care in underserved area of MN.
Permanent limited MD license (optional)
