What we are learning this week …
Reading:
Math:
Readers are
currently reading a
book from a series
with their reading
partner. We are
forming series book
clubs and tracking
the stars of our
books (collecting
information about
them, noticing how
they respond to
problems, and making predictions of
what they’ll do next/
how they’ll respond
to different events
in our story. Readers meet every few
chapters to discuss
their books. Soon,
they'll start a new
book from the same
series!
Students are working on
strategies for solving story problems, which require them to use
two-digit addition or subtraction.
We are also continuing to learn
about place value concepts and
patterns on the 100s chart. This
week, math menus concepts review: money,
combinations to make 20,
even and odd numbers,
and place value.
Science:
We are LOVING observing
our caterpillars each day and
learning about the life cycle of a
butterfly. We are learning
about how long each stage
of the life cycle lasts, and
taking care of cleaning our
