What we are learning this week …
Reading:
We will begin this week
with reviewing all of the tips
and tools we’ve learned for
sharing a detailed retelling of
our books. Then, we will focus on word-solving strategies and how it is important
for readers not to skip over
tricky words. If we do, we
won’t be able to understand
the meaning of our stories.
We are also working hard on
setting up our reader response notebooks, using an
engaging Mercy Watson text.
Writing:
Authors are working
hard and publishing special
narratives! This week will be
our last week in writing
workshop to focus specifically
on crafting personal narratives. We will be reviewing
writing strategies we have
learned thus far.
Math:
We will begin a unit
on Geometry. This week, we
will focus on discerning between 2-D and 3-D shapes,
while describing attributes of
each. Mathematicians will be
working with pattern blocks,
shape cards, and geoblocks.
We will sort shapes by like
attributes. There will be an
ongoing review of money,
time, and story problemsolving strategies.
