BE SAFE
BE RESPECTFUL
BE YOUR BEST
What we are learning this week …
Reading:
Math:
We will review the myriad of “tricky word” strategies we have learned and
practiced. In addition to
this, we will learn about author’s intent for the books
we are reading, and how we
can try the same things in
the books we are writing. We
will also work on synthesizing
our books, making all parts
“click” together.
Each day’s lesson will
focus on story problemsolving strategies. We will
be working on discerning
what change is happening
(addition or subtraction),
how to set up our equation,
and problem-solving strategies. Math menu choices
will reinforce the following
skills: doubles, making 10,
adding multiple addends,
place value, and money
Writing:
We will review the
reasons writers write, and
discuss how authors think
about how they hope their
reader will respond and/or
react to their book. We
will continue to work on
crafting powerful,
thoughtfully designed,
personal narratives.

concepts.
S.S.:
Students will be completing their research on
their chosen landform. We
will use both kid-friendly
research links on laptops as
well as non-fiction texts.
Then, students will each
create an “Educreation,” a
digital presentation of what
they learned, using iPads.
Each student will share with
our class.
HAPPY FALL!!!
Ways you can help…

MANY thanks to those who have sent in Kleenex and Clorox wipes with their
student. It has been a tremendous help in keeping us healthy!

Please remind your child that nightly reading should be from their book folder.
If they choose to read other books from home, please make sure that reading
time is outside of the 20 minutes of book folder time. Thank you!
