What we are learning this week …
Reading:
Math:
We will continue
our non-fiction reading
unit this week. We will
review ways to use
context to build our
knowledge of unknown
words. We will continue to learn wordsolving strategies, enhancing our growth in
knowledge of our chosen topics.
Students will continue
collecting, creating representations of, and analyzing data. We will work this week on
surveying other classes by
asking, “How many teeth have
you lost?” Math menu concepts will review: doubles plus
one, adding 9 to a number,
adding 3 addends, addition
and subtraction within 100,
and even/odd numbers.
Writing:
Social Studies/Science:
Students will be
choosing an expert topic
and begin crafting an
informational book. We
will learn strategies for
planning our books,
sticking to our topic,
and incorporating the
non-fiction text features we’ve noticed in
mentor texts.
We have had SO much
fun learning in our economics unit!
We will finish producing products
at the beginning of the week,
earning an “income” along the
way. Then, we will have our
KidsTown market day, where students will be consumers. They
will experience both opportunity
cost and scarcity firsthand.
Towards the end of the week, we
will begin a science unit on
magnets.
Ways you can help…
