What we are learning this week …
Reading:
Math:
We are continuing to
work on self selecting books
that fit our reading muscles.
This week we are learning
about taking charge of our
reading by choosing what we
read and how we read. Ask
your child about how to take
a grown-up sneak peek of
books.
Mathematicians are
continuing to work on
identifying coins, counting like groups of coins,
and counting mixed coins.
Other goals include: collecting, recording, and
interpreting data, counting strategies, and fluency in knowing +1 or –1
of any given number.
Writing:
Authors are making
great progress writing
their personal narratives.
Authors are currently finishing webs and beginning
to write their stories.
Current focuses include:
adding detail, sticking to
the chosen topic, and
learning from master
writers (sharing mentor
texts of great writing).

We will start

Sept 21st. I will send
the schedule home soon.
S.S.:
Students experienced
SO much success on
their map quiz! We are
now zooming in on only
our country, and beginning to learn about the 5
regions. We’ll explore
landforms, famous attractions, climates, and
