Response from MDH on Aluminum salts.docx
Dear Judge Lipman,
The attachment is a letter respectfully addressing some of the MDH
information provided by two authorities, the American Academy of
Pediatrics (AAP) and Dr. Brown, on the amounts of aluminum salts in
vaccines and food.
Thank you,
Chris Abel
Response from MDH on Aluminum Salts
“It’s present in our food, air and water, including breast milk and formula. The amount of
aluminum in vaccines is similar to that found in 33 ounces of infant formula.” AAP
…excerpt from a fact sheet titled “ “Clear Answers & Smart Advice about Your Baby’s Shots”
by Dr. Ari Brown “Your baby follows the standard immunization schedule; he is exposed to
about four to six milligrams (mg) of aluminum at six months of life. By comparison, he’s also
exposed to 10 mg of aluminum if he is breastfed, 40 mg if he is fed cow’s milk-based formula or
120 mg if he is fed soy formula” http://www.immunize.org/catg.d/p2068.pdf
Because information about the ingredient aluminum in vaccines was mentioned again, I thought I
add to the information provided by the AAP and Dr. Brown.
The amount of the aluminum in vaccines might be less than the amount of aluminum in breast
milk and infant formula over a six month period but the question should be is how much
aluminum enters the blood stream.
100% of aluminum present in vaccines enters the bloodstream.
But less than 1 percent of aluminum present in food is absorbed through the intestines into the
bloodstream. Aluminum in Vaccines: What you should know | Vaccine Education Center at the Children's ...
So how much aluminum enters the bloodstream from vaccines compared to aluminum entering
the bloodstream from breast milk and formulas over six months?

4 to 6 milligrams of aluminum from vaccine given in the first six months of life enters
the bloodstream. On average if this aluminum amount is divided into three doses, up to 2
mg of aluminum may enter the bloodstream of an infant at 2 months and again at 4
months and again at 6 months of age.
Less than 0.1 mg of the 10 mg aluminum in breast milk may enter the bloodstream over
6 months if exclusively breastfeed (10 mg x 0.01 absorbed into bloodstream = 0.1 mg)
Less than 0.4 mg of the 40 mg aluminum in formula may enter the bloodstream over 6
months (40 mg x 0.01 = 0.4 mg)
Less than 1.2 mg of the 120 mg aluminum in soy-based formula may enter the
bloodstream over 6 months - (120 mg x 0.01 = 1.2 mg)
A vaccinated baby may have up to 20 times more aluminum entering his bloodstream in one day
than the amount of aluminum an unvaccinated exclusively breastfed fed baby may have entering
his bloodstream over a 6 month period from breast milk?
The Tdap vaccine for 10 years and older contains 1.5 mg aluminum phosphate or ≤ 0.39 mg as
aluminum adjuvant.
The average adult in the U.S. eats about 7-9 mg aluminum per day in their food but on average
only about 0.08 mg of aluminum enters the bloodstream in one day from food.
Clearly, it is important to know the major differences in the amount of aluminum that is actually
entering the bloodstream in one day and not just the amount of aluminum in food.
The FDA sets the guidelines for what and how much aluminum is allowed in vaccines.
According to the FDA, the maximum amount of allowable elemental aluminum is 850 mcg (0.85
mg/dose) per vaccine. Dr. Ayoub (Illinois radiologist and a physician, a specialist on the
additives and preservatives used in vaccines) dug deeper into the FDA regulations on aluminum,
he discovered that the limitation of 850 mcg (0.85 mg) per vaccine dose is based on the
effectiveness of the adjuvant role of aluminum and has very little to do with limitations based on
safety. http://omniintelligencer.com/Health-Wellness/Wellness/Aluminum-another-culprit-in-vaccine-toxicity

So what information are parents allowed to know in order for them to make an informed decision
for their babies especially if a vaccine is “required”?
Thank you,
Chris Abel
