Graduation Rehearsal Continues….
Metro Information
9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Students return to gym for
graduation rehearsal.

Wednesday, June 8th at 8:00 a.m. Students arrive
at gym for full graduation rehearsal in casual dress.
Graduation Rehearsal is MANDATORY!*
Commencement Ceremony
Disembark at the Farragut West metro
stop. Exit the station on 17th Street, walk
south on 17th Street towards Constitution
Avenue, Turn right onto D Street.
DAR main entrance is mid-block between
“C” and “D” Streets.

Full rehearsal (Casual Attire)
Students are not required to participate in the
ceremony to receive a diploma. Those who
choose to participate, however, are expected to
conform to all rules and policies.
Students that do not participate in the
ceremony will receive their diplomas after
June 9, 2016.
*Students MUST be on time and be
cooperative during all rehearsals in order to
participate in the commencement ceremony.
Students who do not participate in all
rehearsals will not participate in the
commencement ceremony.
Bus transportation to D.A.R. (one-way) is
mandatory for all students.
Rehearsal Schedule
Monday, June 6th at 2:30 -4:00 p.m.
Cap and gowns will be distributed in the
cafeteria
Tuesday, June 7th at 8:00 a.m.
Seniors arrive at gym. Students come dressed
as they would be dressed for graduation.
8:30 a.m. Students move to the stadium for
senior picture in cap and gown.
Thursday, June 9th, 2016
7:00 a.m. Students arrive at the cafeteria
7:30 a.m. Buses will be loaded promptly
8:15 a.m. Departure to DAR Constitution Hall
Dress Code
Students will wear a Black robe and mortarboard
with black and red tassel. The cap should be worn
parallel to the floor (flat on your head).
You may use bobby pins to secure the cap. During
the processional and through the awarding of
diplomas, the tassel is worn on the left side. On
signal from the stage, after all graduates have been
awarded diplomas, tassels will be shifted to the
right side of the cap.
Required Attire
Boys: White-collared shirt with tie; long black or
navy blue dress pants; dress shoes with dark socks.
Girls: Dress, skirt, or long dress pants; light colored
blouse and black dress shoes (no mules, flip flops or
heels more than three inches).
Clothing, jewelry, and accessories should not be
visible on the outside of academic robes. No large
drop earrings, purses, chewing gum, sunglasses,
signs, decorations, cosmetics, hairbrushes,
electronic devices (cell phones and iPods
included), cameras, and balloons are NOT
PERMITTED

walk south on 17th Street towards
Constitution Avenue, turn right on D
Street.
Metered street parking is available but
limited.
Parking garages are located in the area of
New York and Pennsylvania Avenues,
and 17th and 18th Streets.
Additional parking facilities are also
available at the Marvin Center Garage on
H Street, between 21st and 22nd Streets;
and University Parking Garage, enter
between 22nd and 23rd Streets. Rate
$10.00 min.

Graduation Commencement Ceremony from Northwood HS to
DAR Constitution Hall, Washington, DC and/or from DAR
Constitution Hall to Northwood HS.
