Communications Pathway
Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
Thank you for your interest in Northwood’s Humanities Academy. The Communications Pathway
represents an initial phase of a vision of that provides students with a wide range of course options in
areas related to the Humanities.
The Communications Pathway offers students a comprehensive academic program that is both
rigorous and diverse. Whether they focus upon newswriting, art, design, photography or creative
writing, students will have opportunities that enhance their abilities to effectively communicate ideas
and visions to members of the school community and beyond. A culminating capstone project during
the senior year will allow students to analyze, reflect upon, and demonstrate their learning. Students
who complete this process receive distinctive recognition for their outstanding work and contributions
to the Northwood community.
The expectation is that freshmen and sophomores who opt in to the program this year will complete
the program by their graduation date. Juniors who opt in this year will meet with the Academy Head,
Academies Coordinator, and Academy Counselor to customize their completion requirements.
Please fill out and return the slip below to become a candidate for admission into the
Communications Pathway. Membership will be granted upon successful completion of the required,
“Introduction to Journalism” course.
