FFY2015 Close-Out Update
We will soon be completing close-out of the FFY2015 WIC grant and want to provide you an
update on what you can expect. Each fiscal year as we close out, we make reimbursements, as
we have funds available, for WIC expenditures which exceed your grant amount.
BACKGROUND
Based on input from the WIC Advisory Group and others, the MN WIC Program leadership has
made it a priority to reimburse local agencies more during and throughout the year, when
those payments can be used deliberately and effectively for providing WIC services. Some
agencies don’t benefit from payments for grant overages at the end of the year because not all
local agencies may overspend the grant amount.
This year we have provided local agencies $1.175 million more in funding during the fiscal year
than last year. Two examples are: 1) increasing the per participant rate from $14.00 per
participant to $14.75 and 2) providing local agencies an allocation available to use for CPA
training. The total amount which will be paid to local agencies for FFY15 year will be about
the same as last year.
EXPENSES TO BE REIMBURSED
This year, we have sufficient funds to pay expenses up to just over 15% higher than your Local
Agency grant amount at year end. Reimbursements cannot exceed your total reported WIC
expenses from your final claim form. Payments for amounts spent over the grant amount will
arrive next week via electronic transfer of funds.
Going forward, we expect total reimbursements for expenses over the grant amount to be
reimbursed as we have funds and in more modest amounts like this year.
