STUDENT DIRECTIONS
Selecting Classes for the 2016-2017 School Year
1) Log on to scheduler using your MCPS login and password:
https://scheduler.mcpsmd.org or https://scheduler.mcpsmd.org/public
2) Next, click on Class Registration located on the left hand side of the screen under Navigation.
3) Your Homeroom, Team, Counselor, & PE/Health have already been selected for you. You do not need to
do anything.
4) To register for courses, click on the pencil icon to the right of each category.
5) If a teacher has recommended you for a course, please select that course. If indicated, please select
both A and B for a course (Algebra, Geometry, World Languages, IEDD). Remember to click Okay when
you have selected your courses.
6) You may choose up to two (2) Electives or a combination of Reading (if recommended) and an Elective, or
a World Language and an Elective. Be sure to click “next” at the bottom of the screen to see all of the
elective options that are offered.
7) When you have finished, click Submit and your completed list of courses will appear. Students should
have no less than TEN (10) courses (including Homeroom, Counselor, Team, & PE/Health)
8) Please use the checklist below to help you cover all of your required classes:
 Grade 6 English (REQUIRED)
 Grade 6 Math (REQUIRED)
 Grade 6 World Studies (REQUIRED)
 Grade 6 Science (REQUIRED)
 Grade 6 Reading (Require ONLY if a course has been recommended; otherwise, leave blank)
**Students should select a World Language and an Elective or two (2) Electives. 
**Students who are recommended for a Reading class should select one (1) Elective 
(Center Program Electives & Humanities Literature are only for students who will be accepted into one of
the magnet programs. Do not select any classes in these categories at this time.)
