When: Tuesday, April 26th 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Webinar Description: Over 3,500 infant deaths each year in the US that are ruled SUID – Sudden Unexpected Infant Death. This includes, but is not limited to SIDS, suffocation, asphyxia, overlay, entrapment, and other sleep related causes. This session will discuss the current infant safe sleep recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP); ways to help parents troubleshoot problems; and Tummy Time Tips and Tools. Content and Format: Using PowerPoint and discussion, this session covers the AAP recommendations for infant safe sleep; prevention of sleep related infant deaths; Triple Risk model to explain recommendations; and the importance of supervised Tummy Time. Outcomes: • • • Participants will be able discuss current AAP recommendations on SIDS risk reduction and preventing sleep related infant deaths. Participants will be able to state ways to effectively model correct safe sleep behavior and troubleshoot questions from parents. Participants will be able to state importance of Tummy Time and share with parents and caregivers ideas for tummy time activities.
