We are pleased to offer a webinar “Using Minnesota WIC Breastfeeding Data to Inform Our
Practice”. This webinar will present some of the breastfeeding data we now have posted on
our website and will discuss ways this data can be used to inform and enhance practice.
CPEUs will be available for dietitians.

Breastfeeding Exclusivity: Marcia McCoy MPH, IBCLC (20 min.)

• Describe why breastfeeding exclusivity matters
• Describe and compare measures tracked by the CDC and measures tracked by WIC
• Demonstrate use of the State Use Question #1 – Exclusivity
Tracking Supplemental Formula Given to BF Infants: Maggie Donohue RDN, MPH (15 min.)
Learning Objectives: At the end of this webinar participants will be able to:

• Use Infoview report to describe local practices related to supplementation of BF infants
What can Breastfeeding Annual Reports & Maps Tell Us About Our Programs: Joni Geppert,

• Identify where reports & maps are located that provide summary breastfeeding
information by Agency, Grantee, County of Residence, CHB of Residence and City of
Residence
• Describe how to use race/ethnicity data alone or in combination with other races

Discuss how duration data can be used to target education efforts by identifying
breastfeeding drop off rates by race/ethnicity
Locate a county that shares the same classification of 2015 WIC breastfeeding initiation
rate as your own county, as presented on Minnesota WIC maps

Attendance that can be used to apply for CPEU’s with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Included in this Wednesday Update is a report from the Breastfeeding Exclusivity pilot project
called Hospital Supplementation & Breastfeeding Measures. It provides examples of
information that can be obtained from the new Breastfeeding Exclusivity state use field
questions.
