SUBJECT:
WIC Success Stories for Social Media
You may have noticed an increase in posts about WIC from the MDH Facebook page. At the
direction of the new Community and Family Health Communications Coordinator, we have a goal
to submit one post per week from WIC to be published to Facebook. In order to help us meet
this goal, we are looking to receive “WIC Success Stories” or other WIC-related topics from local
agency staff that we can share with the general public. These success stories/topics can include
client testimonials, a story from a local agency staff person, or some ways that the WIC program
has positively impacted your participants or your community.
Here are some things to keep in mind when submitting ideas:
•
All posts are subject to review by MDH.
•
MDH monitors the success of posts by how many users are reached by a Facebook Post
as well as how many users interact with a post. The most successful posts are about the
work we’re doing.
•
Please submit any ideas to [email protected] by noon the Thursday of the week
prior to the proposed publish date. This is particularly important if you are trying to
coordinate with a certain time period observance, such as National Folic Acid Awareness
Week or National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month.
•
Posts should be limited to a few sentences and a link to a website (such as your local WIC
website, MDH WIC website, or a website specific to the topic). Facebook posts that
include a link perform better than posts that do not.
•
Facebook posts must include a picture. The pictures must be the property of WIC or
otherwise be in the public domain.
•
Ensure that you get proper permissions for any stories or pictures you share.
•
If you choose to follow MDH on Facebook, you can increase the reach of our posts by
“liking” or “sharing” them from your personal account.
You may refer to the MDH Facebook Page for examples of other posts.
Please submit ideas for posts or questions about this process to me at [email protected]
or 651-201-4083.
