Thanksgiving by Brandi B.
GMS MONTHLY
GMS B RI DGE PROGRAM
Thanksgiving is a day
back home to have are
full Thanksgiving dinner with my mom’s
side of the family.
There are some families that don’t like turkey so they might have
chicken or even might
go to KFC or have Boston market for Thanksgiving. There are some
families that don’t celebrate Thanksgiving
because they might not
get into the spirit.
These families might
go to stores and wait at
Best Buy, Walmart and
the mall for holiday
shopping. During black
Friday people cram the
stores to get deals on
holiday gifts. How
meant for spending
quality time with your
family. Some families
celebrate in different
ways. On Thanksgiving
some families go to
their grandparent’s
house to watch TV or
listen to the radio. They
also like to watch the
Thanksgiving parade.
There are some families that go on vacation
and there are some
families that even go to
their mom, dad, or
cousin’s house. At my
house we have two
Thanksgiving dinners.
We go to my dad’s side
of the family to have a
snack and then we go
about the bridge staff like Ms.
Peregoy? She celebrates with
her family and watches a football game with her brothers
and her father. Mr. Tyler celebrates with his grandparents.
They talk about their time to
together as a family. Mrs.
Alomar celebrates Thanksgiving with her family then she
watches movies with her son.

Meet the New Staff Member: Mrs. McGlurkin by Adam S.
I would like to talk about
Mrs. McGlurkin. The reason I
choose this story is because Mrs.
McGlurkin was with me at my
other school Redland Middle
School. She is tall and a proud
woman who I respect. When
asked why she switched schools,
Mrs. McGlurkin said that at certain times principal’s move to
different schools and do not control it. Her job as an assistant
principal is very important because she has to help students
and staff be successful. Her fa-
vorite part of the job is working
with other students. Mrs.
McGlurkin is married with two kids
and she is excited to spend Thanksgiving with her family. When Mrs.
McGlurkin is at home, she likes to
read and organize her house.

Meet the New Staff Member: Mr. Warren by Matt D.
There are a lot of new things
about GMS and we have not really noticed them and one of
them are the new staff. The new
security guard is a nice person
and kind. He likes a lot of stuff
and one of them is a movie is
called Soul Food .The new security guard is a nice guy and his
name is Mr. Warren. It is his
first year here and he is a good
person when it comes to security. He is happy to work here at
GMS. He likes the people here
and the staff are very nice to him
and so is everybody else. He is
a very kind worker and a very
kind staff member. When I
asked him what is his favorite
store to shop at he said Burlington Coat Factory and he was
glad that he shopped at that
Page 2
store. He said his favorite hobby
is fishing and he is very proud of
it and he also said that it is very
fun. So I think that he really
likes it here and he also likes our
school. The way that I know this
is that he has a calm voice and
he likes to help people. He also
likes movies including soul food.

Littering By Noah H.
One of the most troublesome problems the world
faces is when people mindlessly throw their garbage
on the floor with no care in
the world this is known as
littering. When people
throw their trash on the
ground it shows that they
are just either too lazy or
selfish to pick it up and
throw it in a public trash
can. Also when people
throw trash in the forest or
in the ocean, then you are
polluting the wild life as
well because a fish could
get caught in trash or something worse could happen
like many fish or one of our
food sources could run out
by pollution in the ocean.
Another reason littering is
bad is because of what happens on land. When people
litter their trash on land, the
world just looks worse and
worse and if nobody picked
up their trash our world
would probably look like a
big ball of filth. The kids
here at Gaithersburg middle
school are also sick of the
littering that is going on
here because whenever we
go outside we almost always see one piece of trash
someone left on the ground.
I personally think there
should be some rules that
say if you’re bringing food
like chips or soda to the
school they should be reminded to throw their trash
away after using it. So if
you pick up your trash,
you’re doing the world a
good favor by helping,
some people even take time
out of their lives to help
with many good deeds such
as picking up trash at a
church or a school. So
please, do your best to try to
help pick up trash and stop
littering, that is if people ever learn though.

Girl’s Basketball Team by Matt L.
Ms. Friedlander loves
working with the girls. They
are a great group of studentathletes. Ms. Friedlander does
look for trends in the WNBA
but mostly to NFHS- National Federation for High school
Athletics for guidance and
coaching tips. All the girls
on the girl’s basketball team
are really good players. The
rules are the same as the
boy’s basketball team. The
girls have not played any
games yet this year, but last
year they finished with a
great record of 4 wins and 2
losses. Ms. Friedlander loved
basketball when she was
young and still loves to play
basketball, it’s a great team
sport that challenges skills,
sportsmanship and mental
preparation. “The skills of the
girls are solid, we now need
to work on learning each other’s playing style so we can
mesh together as a team. The
girls on the girl’s basketball
team will try to get a lot of
wins and no loses Win or lose
is not the ultimate goal, we
want to learn to play better
and have and make friends,
said Ms. Friedlander.”
