We have had a great start
to the school year and are
enjoying getting to know
your children! The students are quickly learning
and adapting to the rules
and routines of the class
and school. Here are
some of the things we are
focusing on in September:
Math
Positional words: above,
below, under, over, in,
next to, in between
Sorting by attribute: Color, size, shape
Data collection: creating
graphs as a whole class
(boy/girl, color of eyes,
how we come to school)
Language Arts
Phonemic Awareness:

Identifying letters
and their sounds,

comparing uppercase
and lowercase letters,

comparing the letters
in each others’ names,

writing own name and
friends’ names.

the folder in your child’s
backpack to return to
school on Monday.
Money: Money (lunch,
field trips, etc.) should be
sent in an envelope with
your child’s name written
on it.

whole into parts so that
